Dr. Ron Henning has spent over 40 years in the peanut industry in different capacities. After completing his Ph.D. at the University of Georgia, he served as State Peanut Agronomist from 1978 to 1985. He then began a new career in commercial research and development, including a position as Vice President of Science and Technology, with the National Peanut Council. Most recently, he was a private consultant to peanut producers and commercial clients. Dr. Henning led a 1995 task force writing "Industry Good Management Practices" for the American Peanut Council and served as co-task force leader when the resource was revised in 2002. He has received numerous awards and recognitions, including a Distinguished Service Award from the Georgia Peanut Commission, the T. Hayden Rogers Distinguished Service Award for the University of Georgia, Golden Peanut and Fellows Awards from the American Peanut Education and Research Society, and Man of the Year in Service to Georgia Agriculture from Progressive Farmer magazine. Dr. Henning has been a part of the EMD Crop BioScience team since 2005 working as a Peanut Specialist Consultant.
