Field Tested. Field Proven. What is PulseSignal II? PulseSignal II is a unique pea and lentil product containing naturally occurring plant signal molecules called flavonoids that enhance and hasten the recognition step between the plant and the Rhizobium, leading to earlier nodulation and nitrogen fixation. What are flavonoids? These plant signal molecules stimulate the appropriate Rhizobium species to produce LCO (Lipochitooligosaccharide) which in turn initiates the recognition process required for nodule formation (Figure 1, see product sheet.) They also attract the rhizobia to the plant’s root hairs improving rhizobial adhesion and colonization What does this have to do with my farm? Western Canadian pulses are typically seeded into tough conditions for nodulation and nitrogen fixation. Low soil temperature is particularly un-favorable for nodulation to take place. The ineffectiveness of these first steps in the nodulation process, such as recognition of flavonoids by the bacteria, has been attributed to unsuccessful nodulation in cold soils. The addition of flavonoids in PulseSignal II ensures the early availability to the Rhizobium bacteria, leading to earlier nodule formation, reducing the nitrogen deficiency period that pea and lentil plants experience early in the growing season. An earlier and more consistent supply of available nitrogen can lead to better plant growth and improved performance. PulseSignal II Benefits: · Advances the normal nitrogen fixation process · Stimulates rhizobia and root hair curling for earlier nodule formation and nitrogen fixation · Enhanced roots, improving nutrient and water uptake · Delivers more consistent, higher yields
